Itinerary

Imperial City, Perfume River cruise, Thien Mu Pagoda, Tomb of Emperor Tu Duc

8:00 AM: Our guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel for a tour of Hue, the former capital of Vietnam from 1802 to 1945, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1993.

Start your day with a visit to the Imperial City - the seat of the Nguyen Dynasty, the last feudal dynasty of Vietnam. It consists of three parts: The Citadel (Thanh Noi), the Imperial City (Hoang Thanh), and the Forbidden Purple City (Cam Thanh). Explore various key monuments: The Flag Tower, Nine Dynastic Urns, the South Gate, Thai Hoa Palace, Thai Dich Lake, the Forbidden Purple City, the Temple of Worship for the Nguyen Kings, and more.

The program continues with a visit to Thien Mu Pagoda, one of Hue's iconic landmarks. Explore its 21-meter-high octagonal tower, built in 1601, representing the seven reincarnations of Buddha.

Afterwards, enjoy a boat ride on the Perfume River to the Thuy Bieu village - a typical countryside village of Hue known for its delicious pomelo orchards called "Thanh Tra." Have lunch at a family restaurant.

Take a leisurely stroll through orchards, typical garden houses, and a century-old garden house. Experience the serene nature and the typical rustic setting of Hue. Visit two lesser-known sites: the Tiger Arena, where emperors organized battles between tigers and elephants, and, 100m away, the charming Voi Re Temple, dedicated to the only two elephants defeated in these battles.

Explore the tomb of King Tu Duc, one of the most beautiful sites in Hue. It is a model of traditional Vietnamese art and an opportunity to learn about the history of the Nguyen Dynasty and the French colonial invasion. Take a photo break at the incense and conical hat craft workshop in Thuy Xuan. On the way back to Hue, make a stop at Bellevue Hill for a panoramic view of the Perfume River.

Return to your hotel by car.
