Itinerary

Hanoi – Bat Trang Ceramic Village – City Exploration

Depart northeast from Hanoi along the left bank of the Red River to the 500-year-old Bat Trang Ceramic Village, renowned for its exquisite ceramics exported worldwide. Upon arrival, encounter adjoining shops selling both ancient and modern ceramics.

Commence your journey with a visit to the Bat Trang Pagoda, where locals venerate the ancient artisans who founded the village. Stroll through the village to a family-owned workshop, engage with local artisans at work, and observe their meticulous craftsmanship. The guide will elucidate the entire production process, from clay selection, treatment, and additive mixing to shaping, drawing, firing, and finishing the products.

Participate in hands-on activities with local artisans to create your ceramic piece, assisted by a craftsman, and take home your crafted souvenir—a delightful and interactive experience suitable for children.

Capture moments with artisans, explore traditional ceramic kilns, head to the village market, and peruse beautiful items in stores for family or friends' gifts before returning to Hanoi for lunch.

Lunch: Enjoy Bun Cha (grilled pork rice vermicelli) & discover Vietnamese egg coffee—a Vietnamese tradition.

Afternoon: Visit the Temple of Literature, the first national university built in 1070 by Emperor Ly Thanh Tong. It served as an educational institution for sons of the nation to become scholars and high officials. The temple honors Confucius and the Kingdom's scholars. With its original architecture amidst courtyards, ponds, and gardens, it is a peaceful haven in the heart of the capital.

Stroll through gardens toward the symbol of the city and Vietnamese culture, "Khue Van Cac." Explore the UNESCO World Heritage site, "stone stelae," inscribed with the names of Kingdom competition winners. Continue the walk to Quoc Tu Giam – Sons of the Nation.

Return to the city center for a 45-minute cyclo ride in the Old Quarter's 36 streets. Conclude the day by enjoying the traditional water puppet show, a distinctive art form of Northern Vietnam (Red River Delta) combining traditional music and rural life scenes.
