Your passport must be valid beyond your departure date from Vietnam and in good condition. It must contain at least 3 blank pages, with 2 of them being consecutive.
Citizens of the following countries are eligible for a visa exemption for stays of up to 14 days/ 30 days/ 45 days (including entry and exit days) for single entry:
45 days visa exemption: Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Norway, United Kingdom, Japan, Russia, South Korea, Belarus
30 days visa exemption: Philippines, Cambodia, Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand.
14 days visa exemption: Brunei, Myanmar, Poland
90 days visa exemption: Chile, Panama
Multiple consecutive visa exemptions are possible, requiring re-entry and exit from Vietnam to receive a new exemption each time.
A 30-day visa exemption is granted to those entering in Phu Quoc Island, coastal economic zones designated by the government. This policy has been in effect since July 1, 2020. If you wish to visit other regions of Vietnam or stay longer than 30 days on Phu Quoc, you must obtain a Vietnamese visa.
For nationalities that do not benefit from visa exemption, you can apply for an e-visa via the national immigration portal of Vietnam. Steps to obtain an e-visa:
You can apply for a visa on arrival with a local agency in Vietnam and receive at Vietnam international airport, it is legal and it is supported by the Vietnamese Immigration Office.
Step 1: Contact the agency and send your information: a scanned copy of your passport; your proposed/actual Entry and Exit dates for Vietnam; the Country in which or the point of entry to Vietnam at which you wish to receive your entry visa on arrival.
Step 2: Confirm and pay & Receive and print the approval letter
After 3 working days, the agency will scan and send you a copy of approval letter by email (please double check if all information on letter are correct). Then you need to print this document out and use it to board on plane (color preferred, but not required). You also need to prepare at least 2 passport photos (4cm x 6cm).
Step 3: Get your visa stamp upon arrival at one of three Vietnam international airports
Upon arrival at Vietnam International airports: Hanoi, Da Nang or Ho Chi Minh city, before passing the Immigration control, you need to go to the visa on arrival desk where you will be asked to fill up a form to get the visa stamp, present your approval letter, passport (must be valid for the next six months), photos, and stamping fee to the Visa On Arrive Office located at airport. The visa fee should be paid in US Dollars.
