All visitors to Vietnam must hold a passport valid for at least 6 months after the country exit scheduled date.
Exemptions:
Since July 1, 2015, and until June 30, 2021, nationals of hereafter listed countries are exempt from visa if their stay in Vietnam does not exceed 15 days, including days of entry and exit:
France, Germany, Great-Britain, Italy, Spain, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Japan, Russia, Belarus, South Korea.
- This exemption only allows one single entry into the territory: would you plan to leave and return to the country within a fortnight, you would have to obtain a second and paying visa.
- A second visa-free entry will not be possible before 30 days after the last exit from Vietnam.
- Only selected airports and land border checkpoints allow visa-exempt travelers. Please, carefully check their list here beforehand.
Other exempted countries:
- 90 days: Chile,
- 30 days: Cambodia, Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand,
- 21 days: Philippines,
- 14 days: Brunei.
In any other case, a paying tourist visa is compulsory to visit Vietnam more than 15 days. It can be obtained "on arrival", by invitation of our agency, GP Travel, or prior to your trip, online as an e-visa or from one of the Vietnamese diplomatic missions.
Depending on the type of request, its validity may reach up to 3 months.
Visa "on arrival", by invitation of our agency, GP Travel:
Vietnam does not strictly speaking apply a real "visa on arrival" program, as all entry into the territory is subject to prior declaration. Upon special appointment from the Vietnamese Immigration Office GP Travel has been referenced as Certified visa registration agent. We handle the completion of the application file and procedures till the issuance of the visa upon arrival at the airport or at the main land access points.
Formalities:
- Before departure:
- Attach a scan-copy of the personal records page of your passport, the one with picture.
A printable copy of your invitation letter will be available online within 2 to 4 business days. It will allow you to collect your visa on arrival at one of the country's international airports.
- On arrival:
- Printed copy of the invitation letter (1 copy: person),
- 2 4x6 ID pictures (no glasses – white background).
Online E –Visa:
This is a single-entry visa allowing you to stay in Vietnam for up to 30 days. It is subject to nationality and individual eligibility conditions and requires possession of a biometric passport. You cannot obtain a multiple-entry visa online.
Formalities:
- Application form to be filled in with personal information, date of entry to Vietnam, purpose of the trip and address in the country (even temporary),
- Scan copy of the passport (personal records page and photo),
- ID photo (scan copy - no glasses),
- Online payment 25 USD by payment card.
Printable E-Visa certificate obtained online, usually within 72 hours, free of any additional formalities or payment at the airport. The immigration authorities will validate your visa during passport control.
In case of no answer beyond this limit, you should reconnect to the immigration site with your file number, click on the "Search" button then "E-visa search", at the top of the screen on the left, finally, print the E-visa.

Application at the consular offices of your country
To be made directly, by post, or with the help of a third party at the Vietnamese Embassy or consulates in your country of residence. An appointment to collect the visa will be scheduled after the processing of your file. The visa will be directly attached to your passport.
