This 4-day tour is a fantastic journey that will bring you to the amazing mountains in the Northwest of Vietnam. You will come upon fabulous rice fields and hills covered by tea plantations, before getting on the path that will lead you to the most incredible rice terraces in Vietnam, in the surroundings of Mu Cang Chai. Finally, you will reach Sapa and visit neighboring villages inhabited by welcoming ethnic minorities. This itinerary is an off-the-beaten-tracks adventure to discover the treasures of this gorgeous region.


HIGHLIGHTS:

This group tours departs every Wednesday from Hanoi and is available year-round.

Day 1:        Hanoi – Duong Lam – Nghia Lo (L, D) <Wednesday>
In the morning, our guide and driver will come to pick you up at your hotel and bring you to Nghia Lo, in the North-West. We will stop on our way to Duong Lam village, an authentic ancient village known as the birthplace of two great Vietnam kings and many other national heroes. You will see the ancient gate and visit charming houses. Then, we will resume our drive along road No32, while passing by numerous tea plantations.
We will take a break and lunch at a local restaurant.

In the afternoon, we will visit a H’Mong village and then go to explore the ancient tea plantations of Suoi Giang. There, we will be able to see the tea-making process. We will finally reach Nghia Lo in late afternoon. The end of the day will be spent on foot, for a walk to Nghia An, a village inhabited by the Black Thai ethnic group. You will have the chance to observe traditional stilt houses and you will catch a glimpse of the lifestyle this people.  
Dinner and overnight at homestay.

Day 2:        Nghia Lo – Tu Le – Khau Pa – Mu Cang Chai (B, L, D) <Thursday>
After a nutritious breakfast, we will again take the famed road No32 to go to Mu Cang Chai. Today, you will see beautiful rice terraces over a 100 km distance separating Nghia Lo Mu Cang Chai. Stop at Khau Pa Pass where you will enjoy a marvelous view on Tu Le valley. After that, we will head to Nga Ba Kim. From there, we will start a 6-km hike through the Pan Tan rice terraces, classified as "National Heritage”. Our bus pick up at end of the trek and drive you to a Thai village. You will meet the people who will welcome you for the night, and you will be free to walk around this peaceful village. Dinner and overnight at homestay.

Day 3:        Mu Cang Chai – Than Uyen – Sapa (B, L, D) <Friday>
Today, we will head towards Sapa, one of the most famous tourists destination in Vietnam. We will stop to Than Uyen market on our way, and then visit a village inhabited by the Lao Lu ethnic group.

After that, we will drive up to the fabulous O Qui Ho pass, which altitude is at the highest among all the other passes Vietnam, and then continue to Tram Ton pass.
Check-in at your hotel and have lunch in town.

In the afternoon, you will have free time to discover Sapa. You will be able to climb up to Ham Rong Mountain, enjoy a superb view on the town while ascending the Fansipan, and assist to a traditional spectacle played by local ethnic minorities. In the evening, you will be free to taste Sapa’s many choices for BBQ food on your own. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 4:        Sapa – Ta Van – Giang Ta Chai – Sapa - Hanoi (B, L) <Saturday>
Wake up and enjoy a good breakfast. Then, you will discover Muong Hoa Valley, home of startling rice terraces. We will start an easy walk through beautiful landscapes to visit villages inhabited by different ethnic groups: Lao Chai village of the Black H’Mongs, Tan Van village of the Dzay group and Giang Ta Chai, inhabited by the Red Dzao minority.  We will also stop at the house of a Dzay family, who will welcome us with open arms. Lunch break to enjoy a tasty meal with them.

After that, we will walk to the main road until reaching our bus. Our driver will bring you back to Hanoi. You will reach the capital at the end of the afternoon. End of the tour.
