Destination: Ha Giang – Dong Van – Meo Vac – Bao Lac – Ba Be
Duration: 5 days 4 nights
Get ready for a unique 5-day trip that will bring you to wonderful
destinations in Northern Vietnam! You will come across a wide variety of
landscapes, ranging from canyons, mountains, hills and lakes, all the
while discovering colorful markets and meet hearty ethnic minorities.
During this journey, you will also spend nights in homestays and
experience being part of a Dao family, to share beautiful moments with
your hosts and learn about their culture. This set departure tour is a
truly original adventure designed for tourists looking forward to
spending a joyful time with welcoming people, in the middle of
sensational natural settings.

This group tour departs every Friday from Hanoi and is available year-round.
Day 1: Hanoi – Ha Giang – Quan Ba (L, D) <Friday>
Our guide and driver will pick you up at your hotel in the early morning, then drive in the direction of Ha Giang. We will stop to visit the Citadel of the Mac Dynasty in Tuyen Quang. After having lunch at a local restaurant, we will continue on the road to Ha Giang. Upon arrival, we will check-at the house of your hosts for the night, a family of the Dao ethnic minority. You will have the opportunity to walk around the lovely hill tribe village. Dinner and overnight at homestay.
Day 2: Quan Ba – Lung Cu – Dong Van (B, L, D) <Saturday>
Wake up and enjoy the fresh atmosphere of this village amid a mountainous area. You will be delighted by the breakfast prepared for you by your host family. After a good morning meal, we will hop on our bus and drive for 43km until reaching Quan Ba Heaven Gate. Climb to the top of the hill and enjoy the picturesque scenery of Quan Ba valley and the Twin Mountains. From here, we will follow the zig-zag roads, with some stop programmed along the way in order to take memorable pictures. You will visit the village of Nam Dan, where you will have a rest while relishing cup of teas with a local family. Then, we will go to Yen Minh, where you will have lunch. In the afternoon, we will continue to drive and stop several times: to Pho Cao, where we will meet a family who will explain to us how they build their house there, to Pho Bang, where you will wander in the charming old streets of this tiny town and meet a localy H’Mong family, and to the Palace of the H’Mong King, before finally settling in Dong Van for the night. Check-in at the hotel and spend the evening at your own leisure.
Day 3: Dong Van – Meo Vac – Bao Lac (B, L, D) <Sunday>
Today, we will have the chance to visit to the biggest market in the region, where many local people gather, cladded in their traditional dresses, in order to purchase everything they need for their daily lives. You will spend 2 hours there, observing this colorful and lively spectacle. After checking out of the hotel, you will be driven by bus for 26km from Dong Van to the most spectacular pass of Vietnam – the Ma Pi Leng. Take the time to catch the breathtaking landscapes with your camera, before continuing on our way until arriving to Meo Vac. We will enjoy a short walk to visit the hill tribes’ villages before having lunch at a local restaurant.
In the afternoon, we will drive down the hill to go to Bao Lac. Check-in at the hotel. Dinner at local restaurant. You will be free in the evening.
Day 4: Bao Lac – Cao Bang – Ba Be (B, L, D) <Monday>
Breakfast at a local restaurant before going to the central market of Bao Lac, where you will come across people of the Lu minority in their tradition dresses. After spending delectable time there, we will start our journey to Ba Be. We will stop along the way to visit a village and to take beautiful pictures. Upon reaching Ba Be, we will go to the house of a Tay family, where we will spend the night. Their home is a traditional house perched on stilts and located on the lakeside. You will have free time to stroll around the village. Dinner and overnight at homestay.
Day 5: Ba Be – Cho Ra – Hanoi (B, L) <Tuesday>
After a tasty breakfast with your host family, enjoy a peaceful boat trip on Ba Be Lake. This is one of biggest natural lakes of Vietnam, which is surrounded by a dense tropical forest. We will explore the Puong grottoes before disembarking at a small pier. There, we will get on our bus and drive to the town of Cho Ra, where we will stop to have lunch.
Afterwards, we will will depart for Hanoi. You will reach the capital in late afternoon. End of the tour.
