This 3-day excursion will open the doors to Siem Reap, a fabulous region home to marvelous temples such as Angkor Thom, Angkor Wat (the biggest religious monument in the world), Banteay Srei, and Preah Khan. Day 1: Arrival in Siem Reap (-)

Upon your arrival at the airport, you will be picked up and driven to your hotel.

Overnight at your hotel in Siem Reap.

Day 2: Angkor Thom – Angkor Wat (B)

Breakfast at the hotel.

In the morning, you will visit Angkor Thom, a big imperial city built by Jayavarman VII (1181-1218) consisting of most notably the ruins of the Royal Palace, Victory Gate, and Bayon (the central temple in Angkor Thom), the latter being recognizable by its mysterious gigantic smiling faces carved in the 49 towers of Bayon. Jayavarmann VII dedicated the Bayon to the Buddha and spread the Buddhist doctrine. You will also visit Baphuon and Phimeanakas, a pyramid made of laterite and sandstone where the King use to meditate. Finally, you will see the Terrace of the Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper King.

You will lunch on your own.

In the afternoon, you will visit the incredible Angkor Wat temple and admire its unmatched architecture, highlighted by intricate bas-reliefs. Angkor Wat is represented on Cambodia’s flag and on bank notes, and is one of the top cultural and historical spots in Asia. Angkor Wat is listed as a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO since 1992.

Later, you will discover Ta Prohm temple.

Dinner on your own and overnight at your hotel in Siem Reap.

Day 3: Siem Reap – Banteay Srei – Preah Khan – Hanoi (B)

Breakfast at the hotel.

After breakfast, you will start the morning with a visit to Banteay Srei, an elegant temple also known as “Citadel of Women”. This temple is remarkable due to the quality of the sculpture. Next is a visit to Banteay Samré (or “Citadel of Samres”). The sculpted pediments, including bas-reliefs depicting Buddhist scenes, are amongst the most beautiful in all Angkor.

Lunch on your own.

In the afternoon, you will visit Preah Khan, a temple built in the 12th century by Jayavarman VII and dedicated to his father. Preah Khan is known for its beautiful stupa erected in the central shrine and symbolizing Buddhism in all its forms. Then, you will go to Neak Pean, a temple located in the middle of an artificial island that was also built by Jayavarman VII. You will admire the sunset at Pre Rup temple, a structure made of laterite bricks. This Hindu temple worships Shiva and is amazing to see, with its simple yet beautiful sculptures and its huge lion statues.

At the end of the afternoon visit, you will be transported to the airport to take your flight to return to Hanoi (VN480 at 8:55pm).
