Thac Ba Lake is located at 154 km from Hanoi, which roughly translates into 3 hours and 30 minutes of road. This lake was formed during the construction of the dam on the Chay River, and today is the biggest artificial lake in Vietnam.

In the past, this place had two cascades: the first one was called the Lady Waterfall (Thac Ba) while the second was called the Man waterfall (Thac Ong). However, both were buried underwater after the construction of the hydro-electric power station was completed. In memory of the two waterfalls, the new lake was named Thac Ba while the adjacent bridge was baptized Thac Ong.

The lake runs over 80 km in length and 30 km in width, while its depth ranges from 15 m to 40 m. This lake is situated in the middle of picturesque landscapes, with thousands of islands scattered on its surface while the surrounding forests reflects themselves on its emerald blue waters.

There, you can spend a night in a homestay, in a family of the White Pants Dao ethnic group.
