Phong Nha Ke Bang is at about 500km south of Hanoi. This national park has been classified as a World Heritage Site, thanks to its richness and biodiversity. The park was created to protect the second largest karst region in the world and its unique ecosystems.

The name of the park derives from the Phong Nha cave and the Ke Bang forest. The cave system is extensive: 300 grottoes for about 130 km of caves, Son Doong cave (the largest in the world) and others like Paradise cave or Dark cave.

Phong Nha cave
It is accessible from Son Trach village by boat. It is home to the largest karst landscape in Vietnam, and it’s also a holy place for the Cham. There are 15 caves, the longest of which measures 8 km. You can enter this enormous network of grottoes during a wonderful boat trip on Son River, an underground stream that will lead you through the caves and between well-preserved stalactites. It should be noted that the caves are sometimes closed during the rainy season (September to November) due to high water levels.

300 steps above is the cave of Tien Son, also called the “Dry cave". There, you can find it charming and interesting limestone formations. In the late 1960s, the cave served as a secret ammunition depot and was also used as a hospital for the Vietnamese fighters. Its entrance was severely affected by heavy bombings and flooded craters can still be found in the surrounding countryside. In addition to the caves, Ke Bang forest and its karst massif offer superb excursions.

Paradise cave
Thien Duong cave is nestled in the heart of Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park. Discovered in 2005 and recently opened to visitors, it is considered by specialists as one of the most beautiful in the world. This cave is still larger than the Phong Nha cave, with its 31km depth, its width ranging from 30m to 150m and its height from 60m to 80m.
The Paradise cave houses stalactites and stalagmites of fantastic shapes that are more than 400 million year old, some having diameters exceeding 5m!

Dark cave
The discovery of this cave is reserved for people who love sports and adventure. You can try the zipline, relax in a mud bath or explore the cave in the dark.

Son Doong cave
With a height of 240m and a depth of 4km, this vast underground cave is known to be the largest in the world. It is now open to tourists, who can visit this incredible natural wonder during unique explorations. Its ground is paved with a wet and slippery green moss, and a dense jungle of ferns rise in its center, populated by bats and monkeys. This flora and fauna flourish along a river that runs down the entire cave.

Nhat Le beach
Nhat Le beach is located in Dong Hoi – capital of Quang Binh province – at 60km from Phong Nha. The water is clean and the beach has white sand. The accommodation options ranges from simple guesthouses to 4-star resorts.
