Ben Tre province is located near the mouth of the Mekong Delta (85km from Ho Chi Minh City). It is home to some of the most picturesque scenery in the region. The milk coffee colored waters wind their way along small canals lined with water palms trees while thatch and bamboo houses are surrounded by lush orchards.

Ben Tre, the eponymous capital of the province, is made up of three islands wedged between the Tien Giang River in the north, the Co Chien River in the south and the Ham Luong River running straight through the downtown area. All are tributaries of the Mekong River splitting in many arms before spilling out into the South China Sea.

The town’s calm waterfront, where aging villas line up, is easy to explore on foot or by bicycle, as is the rustic settlement located south of downtown and across the bridge. This place is perfect for boat trips.
