Hoang Su Phi is a district of Ha Giang Province, located at 300 km in the northeast of Hanoi. This region is blessed with rugged mountains and lush valleys, but best known for its beautiful rice terraces classified as “National Heritage” by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. In addition to its bucolic landscapes, Hoang Su Phi is also a territory where several ethnic groups reside (including H’Mong, La Chi, Dao Ta Pan, Dao with Long Tunics, Tay, Nung), which brings a lot of diversity and charm to this land.

Whether you are adventurous and looking for an outdoor journey, or if you are just looking for a peaceful escape, Hoang Su Phi is a good destination outside of the traditional tourist routes, and will certainly satisfy your appetite for evasion.

Several activities are possible in Hoang Su Phi, including:

  • Walking trips and multi-day treks through valleys inhabited by ethnic minorities and communes blessed with rice terraces classified as “National Heritage”: Nam Ty, Thong Nguyen, Ban Luoc, Ho Thau, Nam Son. For those who cannot participate in hiking, no problem: you can discover this region by motorbike or car.
  • Visit the lively and colorful weekly markets. These trading places attract minority groups from Hoang Su Phi and its surroundings and are very authentic (ex: Thong Nguyen Market, Vinh Quang Market, etc.).
