Although Thai Baht is also
accepted I'd recommend paying for your visa fee in US dollars unless you really
run out of it. If you chose Thai Baht option it will cost you 1,500 Baht
(minimum) which is around US$46 ( it would lots more expensive compare to paying
in USD)
Note: On weekends and Lao public holidays there is a $1
surcharge.
Procedures
In most ports of entry including the Lao
International Airports (Vientiane, Luang Prabang, Pakse and
Savannakhet) the Visa on Arrival gate is located at the arrival gate (before the
immigration gate). You should line up at the visa gate, get the visa application
form and fill it out, If you are arrive by air plain you should request your Air
Hottest give you the form before landing. Then hand it in together with your
passport, 2 photographs and the Visa fee to the officer.
The visa processing time varies from this to that but
normally it takes around 10-15 minutes. Delays are possible in late afternoons,
weekends and public holidays.
